Martyrs' Day is celebrated in India on January 30 at the national level. 30th January is observed annually to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. India observes this day to honour the sacrifices made by Mahatma Gandhi, Bahat Singh, Rajguru,Sukhdev, and countless other brave Indian freedom fighters who fought for the independence, glory, and welfare of India. India and 15 other countries in the world celebrate Martyr’s Day to give respect to the courageous champions.

Gandhi Peace Club paid homage to our father of the nation “MAHATMA GANDHI” on his death anniversary. Mrs.Rajasri Girivelan, The President of Yelagiri Hills presided over the gathering. Mr. Sarath, co-animator, welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr. Thadeus- Principal, Fr. Xavier Raj - The Dean, Professors of Don Bosco College, People from Yelagiri Hills joined us to pay homage to our Father of the Nation.

The Chief guest of the event, Mrs. Rajasri Girivelan,  highlighted the life history of Mahatma Gandhi, the initiative on the fight for freedom and his death. Rev.Fr.Principal, cited that the 30th January as Martyrs day, to remember and  honour the freedom fighters. While remembering them, as the members of India, we should remember their sacrifice and build our attitude to be the channel of Peace.
