Zatti Health & Wellness Centre

Introduction

The Zatti Health & Wellness Centre, also known as the DB Health Station, serves as the primary healthcare facility within the Don Bosco College campus. Conveniently located near the Administrative Office, the centre is dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of students, faculty members, and supporting staff.

Operating from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on all working days, the Health Centre ensures that timely medical assistance, preventive care, and wellness guidance are accessible to every member of the campus community.

Supervision and Staffing

The centre is managed by Mrs. E. Lakshmi, a qualified Staff Nurse with over 10 years of professional hospital experience.

She is responsible for:

  • Overseeing daily healthcare operations
  • Offering first-level medical care
  • Guiding students with health-related concerns
  • Ensuring safety, hygiene, and confidentiality

Objectives of the Health Centre

  • To provide immediate primary healthcare for minor injuries, illnesses, and discomforts.
  • To ensure a safe and supportive environment for rest, recovery, and basic medical care.
  • To promote preventive healthcare through awareness and health education.
  • To support women’s health needs, including menstrual counselling and hygiene support.
  • To monitor campus health and safety standards, including hygiene and mosquito-control.
  • To offer basic diagnostic support such as temperature, pulse, and BP checks.
  • To assist during health emergencies and coordinate timely referrals.
  • To maintain records and medication inventory for continuity of care.
  • To enhance student well-being through nutritional support and wellness initiatives.

  • Three Rest Beds for short-term observation and recovery
  • Common Room for Girl Students ensuring privacy

    • BP apparatus
    • Thermometer
    • Pulse checker
  • First-Aid Supplies and dressing materials
  • General medications for minor ailments
  • Availability of Iron Tablets, ORS, and Menstrual Hygiene Products
  • Clean, safe, and well-maintained patient area

Services Offered

A. Primary Healthcare

  • Treatment for fever, headache, stomachache, and minor ailments
  • First-aid for cuts, sprains, and injuries
  • Vital-sign checks: temperature, pulse, BP
  • Pain-relief spray, ointment application, and dressing

B. Observation & Short-Term Care

  • Temporary rest beds for unwell students
  • Monitoring for dizziness, fatigue, or mild illness
  • Support for brief medical supervision

C. Women’s Health Support

  • Menstrual counselling and emotional support
  • Distribution of sanitary pads
  • Provision of iron tablets
  • Private rest area for girl students

Activities & Preventive Care Initiatives

Iron Tablet Distribution

Iron tablets are regularly provided to students, especially girls, to address anaemia and fatigue.

Mosquito-Control Coordination

The Centre supports fumigation, cleanliness, and mosquito-reduction initiatives on campus.

General Health Recommendations

  • Guidance on hydration, nutrition, and hygiene
  • Awareness on seasonal illnesses
  • Preventive measures during flu or dengue outbreaks
