On the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour, observed globally on 12th June 2025, the NSS Unit of Don Bosco College, Yelagiri Hills, conducted a meaningful awareness and oath-taking session aimed at reinforcing the importance of eradicating child labour and promoting education for all children. A total of 300 participants, including staff and students from various departments, actively took part in this noble initiative.

Highlights of the Programme:

  • The event began with a welcome address by the NSS Programme Officer, emphasizing the relevance of the day and the role of youth in preventing child labour.

  • An awareness talk was delivered, focusing on the legal provisions of the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act and the responsibility of society in ensuring children's rights.

  • All participants solemnly took an oath in Tamil, pledging that children under the age of 14 should not be employed in any form of labour, that every child should be in school, and that they will take necessary steps to report child labour violations and support education.

  • The oath text, provided by the Government of India, was read aloud and repeated in unison by students and staff.

Objectives of the Event:

  • To create awareness about the ill effects of child labour.

  • To sensitize students and staff about child rights and education.

  • To inspire youth to take an active role in reporting and preventing child labour practices in their communities.
